“One thing I feel clear about is that it's important not to let your life live you”
- Irvin Yalom
At certain, often transitional, points in our lives, any of us can find things difficult, perhaps leaving us feeling confused and overwhelmed. I know that deciding to come to counselling may not be easy, and if you are thinking of making that decision you may be finding things emotionally challenging, perhaps feeling that it’s hard to decide what do and, ultimately, wanting something to change.
I offer a warm, confidential place where you are free to explore your concerns without fear of judgement. Talking things through with a counsellor can help make sense of what is going on for you and bring clarity and insight to replace the confusion. I believe that each of us has the inner resources to change life’s direction towards something which feels more aligned with who we truly are, a unique individual, and counselling can be the catalyst to discovering and utilising those resources.
If you still feel unsure whether counselling is right for you, I offer a free, 30-minute initial consultation which may be in person or by telephone.
About Me
“Courage consists not of the absence of fear and anxiety but of the capacity to move ahead even though one is afraid” – Rollo May
I have a passionate belief in the effectiveness of counselling and that it works best when therapist and client have a strong connection; to be human is to sometimes suffer, and by accessing our deepest feelings we can find understanding, acceptance, change and healing.
I am a qualified therapeutic counsellor and member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy. My practice is based in the historic market town of Bishop’s Stortford in East Hertfordshire, around 10 minutes from the M11.
I work one-to-one in person, either short-term or long-term. Sessions are for 1 hour and normally in-person, though I also offer counselling online.
How I Work
“Know all the theories. Master all the techniques. But as you touch a human soul be just another human soul.”
- Carl Jung
I believe that counselling is most helpful when a strong rapport exists between the client and counsellor.
Counselling is a joint endeavour in which we work together, and my commitment is to understand your experience as fully as possible. This means exploring how things are for you in the here-and-now, understanding how past events may have influenced your current situation, and considering what direction you would like to take in the future.
